Private family beta

Privacy Notice

Version beta-2026-07-31 · Effective July 31, 2026

Privacy at a glance

  • Your household space is private and separated from other households.
  • We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-site behavioral advertising.
  • We do not use minor activity for advertising or affiliate recommendations.
  • We use service providers only to operate, secure, and support The Fridge Door.

Information we collect

We collect account and profile information, household memberships and roles, and the content a household chooses to save, including tasks, calendar events, grocery items, notes, alerts, feedback, notification settings, and uploaded profile pictures. We also process basic technical and security information such as login activity, IP addresses, browser information, and application logs.

How we use information

We use information to provide household features, deliver requested notifications, protect accounts, troubleshoot problems, respond to feedback, improve the service, and meet legal obligations. Household content is not used for third-party behavioral advertising.

Service providers and disclosure

Hosting, database, file-storage, email, monitoring, and support providers may process information on our behalf. We may also disclose information when legally required, to address fraud or safety threats, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate notice and protections. We do not permit service providers to use household content for their own advertising.

Product and affiliate recommendations

Personalized affiliate recommendations are not active during the family beta. A future adult-only feature may let an adult request a recommendation for a specific grocery item or adult-created household-maintenance task. Proactive personalized recommendations will remain off until that adult affirmatively enables them.

Eligible content will be matched inside The Fridge Door and will not be sent to a retailer to select the recommendation. We will not use notes, calendar details, alerts, photos, messages, or minor-created activity for commercial recommendations. Affiliate results will be clearly labeled, and The Fridge Door may earn a commission from a resulting purchase.

Children and teens

Adult household administrators create and manage minor memberships. Teen accounts are parent-authorized, cannot administer a household, and will not receive personalized advertising or affiliate recommendations. For the hosted beta, children under 13 will use parent-managed profiles without independent login access unless and until an appropriate verifiable parental-consent process is implemented.

Retention, security, and choices

We retain information only while it is reasonably needed to provide and protect the service, meet legal requirements, and maintain appropriate backups. We use access controls and reasonable technical safeguards, but no online service can promise perfect security. During beta, participants may request access, correction, export, or deletion through the person who invited them or the in-app feedback channel.

Changes

We may update this notice as the service develops. We will identify the current version. If a change materially expands how personal information is used—such as enabling a new commercial use—we will provide notice and request new consent where appropriate instead of relying silently on an earlier acceptance.
